Being named an A Star employee at Coronation is a recognition that follows a year-long evaluation process. This appraisal carefully examines individual contributions and measures tangible impact on the organization.
Recently, Coronation Group celebrated its Key Talents and A Star colleagues, people whose everyday dedication delivers standout results across the organisation. We marked the moment with an intimate dinner hosted by our Founder and Chairman, Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede. It was a relaxed evening of gratitude and reflection, and a simple reminder that lasting value begins with exceptional people.
The Key Talents and A Star Recognition Dinner is more than a ceremony. It is a moment to honour the people who stretch what is possible and move Coronation’s mission forward. The A Star rating marks the highest level of performance within Coronation and is awarded to colleagues who show exceptional skill and steady commitment. These individuals live our purpose of creating a prosperous future for clients and for Africa.
The day began like any other, yet there was a difference one could feel. Men in navy-blue or black suits and women in corporate dresses (or 2-piece suits) moved with quiet confidence. An easy smile here, a lighter step there. Each arrival carried the calm satisfaction of work well recognised.
Early preparations told their own story. Charming flowers made their way into the Coronation Art Gallery, the first sign that the reception space was coming together before dinner on the fifth floor of Coronation Plaza, 5 levels above the art gallery.
By late afternoon, everything was set: elegant centrepieces, soft lighting, and dazzling decorative lights that warmed the room without stealing the spotlight. And of course, the rooms carried Coronation’s signature fragrance, a calming blend that feels luxurious, exotic and unmistakably ours.
As evening settled, the air carried inviting notes of ginger, garlic, star anise, mild aroma of scotch bonnet peppers and toasted sesame- promising a gourmet feast worthy of Stars. A mellow soundtrack followed, guiding honourees into the Art Gallery for the reception and later to the fifth floor for dinner with the Chairman. Soft conversation, the clink of glasses and easy laughter set the tone as guests took their seats.
Beyond the applause, the night returned to Coronation’s enduring vision: A Continent Transformed. By recognising and investing in its people, the Group ensures that talent is celebrated and continually nurtured to drive innovation, sustainability and impact.
During the evening, Mr Aig-Imoukhuede shared this reflection with the honourees:
“Excellence is not an accident; it is a deliberate choice, sustained by discipline and vision. Tonight, we are not just celebrating what you have achieved, but setting the bar for what is yet to come. Coronation will continue to measure itself against the world’s best, and you are the standard-bearers of that ambition.”
The Key Talents and A Star recognition is part of a broader strategy that links personal growth with organisational goals and builds a workforce ready to meet and exceed global standards in financial services and beyond.
The sentiments were echoed across the Group. As Olayimika Adejumo, Team Lead- Strategy, Coronation Asset Management, put it:
“My experience this evening has been quite exciting. It’s not every day that you get to have an insightful experience with someone of great knowledge and great experience. And also a good time to connect with colleagues, have a very productive discussion, and tonight was all about that. It’s also a great thing to be recognised for your performance. I’m looking forward to this again next year.”
It was a memorable evening that celebrated excellence, strengthened resilience and raised the bar for what comes next. May it inspire you to bring your best, consistently, deliberately and fearlessly.
