International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate the incredible achievements of women, not just in grand gestures on the world stage, but also in the everyday triumphs we witness around us. This year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Inspiring Inclusion,” struck a chord within me. It echoes the belief expressed by Gloria Steinem: “Don’t think about making women fit the world – think about making the world fit women.” It’s a call to action, not just for acceptance, but for the creation of a world where women can thrive and contribute their unique perspectives freely.
At Coronation, we take this call to action seriously. We understand the immeasurable value of diversity and inclusion. It’s not just about checking boxes; it’s about fostering a culture where everyone feels empowered to bring their authentic selves to the table. This, in turn, fosters creativity, innovation, and ultimately, a stronger organization that better reflects the communities we serve.
Personally, I’m constantly inspired by the women I have the privilege of working alongside at Coronation. They defy stereotypes and ungrounded beliefs, all while navigating the complexities of work-life balance and societal expectations. This International Women’s Day, I encourage you to reflect on your own biases- conscious and unconscious, including the role you can play in fostering inclusion. Perhaps it’s mentoring a young woman, advocating for equal opportunities within your own sphere of influence, or simply challenging the assumptions we often make subconsciously. Every action, big or small, contributes to building a world where women are not just included, but empowered.
