ABOUT US
The Coronation Infrastructure Fund (the “Fund” or “CIF”) is a closed-end debt fund registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) as a ₦200 billion Shelf Programme under the guidelines for Infrastructure Funds.
The Fund channels long-term institutional capital to finance transformative, revenue-generating infrastructure projects across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. Sponsored by Coronation Asset Management Limited (the Fund Manager) and anchored on a robust governance framework aligned with global best practices, the CIF is structured to deliver both strong inflation-linked returns and measurable socio-economic impact, delivering sustainable returns through strategic investments in transformative projects.
The CIF invests the net proceeds from each offer in loans, securities, and securitised debt instruments of infrastructure companies, projects or special purpose vehicles created to facilitate or promote investment in infrastructure. The Fund aims to achieve a target return of 3% over and above the prevailing yield on the Federal Government of Nigeria Bond with a similar tenor to the tenor of the relevant Series.
CIF targets revenue-generating infrastructure assets in sectors such as:
- Transportation
- Real Estate
- Utilities
- Social Infrastructure (Health, Education, Housing)
- Telecommunications Infrastructure
- Energy (including renewables)
The Fund’s Investment Strategy.
- The Fund invests in projects at both the brownfield (expansion) and greenfield (new) stages that contribute to job creation, climate change mitigation, and gender balance. The Fund will strictly adhere to the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) ESG Performance Standards in its investment process and evaluation.
- The Fund aims to deliver above-hurdle rate investment returns to investors through investments in projects with highly predictable, resilient cash flows while expanding developmental impact.
- The Fund will primarily make debt investments through senior debt, subordinated, and mezzanine financing. The Fund will also consider quasi-equity investments in certain cases to meet diverse funding requirements, provided such investments strengthen the Fund’s leverage in the investee company.
- Investment tenor: The Fund will be able to invest for as long as 10 years (in some cases, longer), depending on the business fundamentals and with the Fund’s Investment Committee’s approval.
Income generated by the Fund will be distributed to unit holders on a semi-annual basis.
